Nov. 6, 2013

Charlottesville police make an arrest in connection with the murder of Jarvis Brown.

Tsaye Lemar Simpson, a 21-year-old Charlottesville resident, is charged with first degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Simpson was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Charlottesville-Albemarle Joint Security Complex where he was being held on unrelated charges. Simpson continues to be held with no bond.

In 2010, Simpson pleaded guilty to several charges, including hit and run and grand larceny, stemming from a police chase that occurred in August of 2009. That chase ended when Simpson crashed a stolen car into the roof of a home on Rugby Road. He fled the scene, but was arrested in October of 2009.

Police discovered Jarvis Brown's body near the road on Woodland Dr. on Oct. 17th, 2013.

The murder investigation is on-going and Police are requesting that anyone with additional information on this case call Crimestoppers at 434-977-4000.
