Charlottesville's Tedx Talks Kick Off

Tedx organizers are hoping to make a difference in Charlottesville on Friday with the series of talks.

Tedx is a local, self-organized offshoot of Ted, which is all about spreading ideas. During the annual Ted conference, the world's leading thinkers and doers speak for 18 minutes on a variety of subjects.

At Friday's Charlottesville version, more than 20 people ranging from physicians, to playwrights, runners and even a U.Va. student will be speaking, spreading ideas and initiatives. The goal of the event is to stimulate dialogue within the Charlottesville community.

The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Paramount Theater. Tedx will also be livingstreaming the talks online.
