Trial Begins for Woman Accused of Murdering Charlottesville Man

Nov. 18, 2013

The first degree murder trial began Monday for the woman accused of killing a Charlottesville man.

Police say Wanda Turner killed Robert Snead Jr. inside his Fairway Avenue apartment in March 2012.

Prosecutors say Turner stabbed Snead more than twenty-five times, and hit him with a blunt object twenty-six times.

Defense says Snead became violent after doing crack cocaine and drinking and that is when an altercation began.

Police have said Turner and Snead knew each other.

Court records show Turner was previously arrested in Charlottesville for cocaine possession, writing bad checks and violating her parole. She was also charged with malicious wounding while serving as an inmate in the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women.

The trial is expected to last a week.
