The city of Charlottesville took advantage of the crowds at Ash Lawn Monday to register voters.

Tables will be set up at various events in the next couple of months to encourage people to register and vote in the May 2, 2006 election.

The city expects a big voter turn out, as two city council seats and three school board seats are up for election.

"The very first school board election ever held in Charlottesville is going to be May 2nd. So we are expecting a high turn out, we're expecting a lot of publicity and press coverage. So it?s going to be a very interesting election to see how that turns out," said Charlottesville deputy Registrar Evan Smith.

This will be the last May election for Charlottesville. Starting in 2007, elections for school board and city council seats will be held in November.
