Students Surpass Food Drive Goal, Tape Up Assistant Principal

Dec. 19, 2013

A Henley Middle School assistant principal gave students an extra incentive to reach their target in the school food drive.

If they reached their goal, they would get to duct-tape her to the wall.

A few thousand pounds of food and several rolls of duct tape later, Ashby Johnson was up on the wall.

Students collected more than 4,000 pounds of food for local families in need, surpassing their goal of 2,500 pounds.

Student Council Vice President Wilson Kelly said it was for a great cause, and it was fun to try to reach the goal.

"We got to duct tape Ms. Johnson to the wall which was really fun because all of the students get to see it during lunch."

Assistant Principal Johnson says it was an opportunity to support an idea from the students for a great cause, as well as help families in the community.

She was up on the wall throughout the lunch period.
