Students from Albemarle High School's indoor track team are taking a break from running to read to kids in the Bright Stars program at Greer Elementary School.
Each member of the track team is paired with a young buddy. They have breakfast, give the kids gifts and read a few Christmas stories together before students leave for winter break.
“They have been getting excited all week about having the big kids come down and just give them some special attention,” says Sarah Shedd, Bright Stars Family Coordinator. “They really enjoy spending time with the high schoolers.”
For the past few years, the track team has been visiting students at Greer for the holidays.
