A woman accused of taking drugs that led to the death of her unborn baby will stay in a jail cell for now.
A judge ordered Garan Lea Drymond held without bond on a drug possession charge.
Investigators say Drymond was pregnant with her son in May when she smoked cocaine and drank alcohol for days. Rescue crews found her at a Charlottesville hotel.
Drymond was taken to a hospital, but her unborn child was dead by the time he was delivered.
Under Virginia code, there is no law that holds a woman accountable for the death of her stillborn child, even if illegal activity led to the death.
Drymond is expected back in court in February.
