Local Gyms Gear Up for New Members After New Year

December 28, 2013

The New Year is just days away now, and that means local gyms are gearing up for people eager to make fitness a priority in 2014.

ACAC in Albemarle County is prepared for the holiday rush.

Last New Year's Day, ACAC branches across the state were visited by more than 2,000 potential members.

Employees at the fitness center say they expect even more next week, as people continue to make the popular New Year's resolution to get in shape.

"We have been -- for the past few weeks -- giving, giving and giving. Now it's time to actually think of ourselves," said personal trainer Teresa Harris. "So, these people are now going to come in and say this is me-time and we need this me-time. Come into the gym, let's work on our health and wellness and let's feel good about ourselves."

ACAC is letting people try out the gym for a month with the Gift of Wellness. For more on the four-week plan, click HERE.
