UPDATE: Johnathan Messer has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
He is due back in court in February.
A man linked to the overnight disappearance of an Albemarle County teen is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.
24-year-old Johnathan Messer was arrested in October and charged with four counts of child pornography. Police believe he is connected to the incident that occurred in the Dunlora neighborhood, when a high school student went missing overnight.
The teenage girl went missing near her bus-stop on Friday Oct. 18. Her father found her phone laying outside later that night and called police. The next morning, a neighbor found the teenager walking up Rio Road.
Police have linked Messer to the girl's disappearance. They say it "was not a random act and the parties involved were not unknown to each other."
Messer is currently being held at the Albemarle County Regional Jail without bond.
