Police in Charlottesville got an early start to their job following a stabbing on Hardy Drive Thursday morning.
Officers with the Charlottesville Police Department say that a man was stabbed several times, and a woman was arrested in the 800 block of Hardy Drive around 9:00 a.m.
Officers got the call that someone was stabbed. When they arrived they found a man with several stab wounds, and a woman nearby with blood on her shirt.
Officers inside the home were able to talk with the lady, but were forced to secure the scene when the lady became slightly agitated in order to protect the others in the house at the time.
"It was a number of people inside the house. [We are] unsure exactly who was there during the incident, but that again is still under investigation," said Office Joe Brown with the Charlottesville Police Department.
Since the ongoing investigation has continued, we've learned that small children were also present inside the home at the time of the stabbing. A relative is taking care of the children.
A knife was found near the woman who was wearing the bloody shirt.
While we do know a woman was arrested for allegedly stabbing the man, we do not know his condition, but we can tell you he was rushed to the University of Virginia Hospital for treatment.
