Charlottesville's development team met with city leaders to discuss the proposed McIntire Interchange on Route 250. The project is in the very early planning stages, so today city leaders met to discuss how they want to present the information to the public.

The project would add at the least an overpass at the intersection of Route 250 and McIntire road. Right now, there are four design plans on the table. Today, Charlottesville's development team met to review the pro's and con's of each plan.

"We're working on finalizing a contract with a design consultant and we are in the process of gathering preliminary project data," said Angela Tucker, Development Services Manager.

The project is separate from the Meadowcreek Parkway project, but would add to it. It's purpose is to provide better access from area neighborhoods into both McIntire park and downtown Charlottesville. it will also eliminate the McIntire road stoplight which would allow for more free-flow traffic.

Already, federal and state funding as been approved for the $32 million project. But before the project gets the green light, there are still many more stages to go. A lot of the decision on whether to build will depend on the public's input.

If you would like to give your input on the project, the development team will hold an information meeting on March 23 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Senior Center, 1180 Pepsi Place, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
