The Virginia Senate and House have passed a bill that will put a tax on your satellite usage.
The 5% increase is expected to be added to bills starting July 1. This tax will affect all those who use satellite radios as well as televisions.
Some delegates agree that this is an attempt to equalize the taxations across the board when it comes to telecommunications.
“99% of all residential telephone users are expected to see a reduction in their phone bill because of this change in the law,” said Delegate David Toscano, Democrat from 57th district.
Governor Kaine has the option to sign, veto or amend the bill. He should make a decision around the April 1.
