Two Candidates for Charlottesville City Council were made official Saturday.

Julian Taliafero and Dave Norris were both nominated to run for Charlottesville City Council by The Charlottesville Democrats Saturday afternoon.

Both say education and public safety are two of their main concerns for the city.

Taliaferro spent 34 years as Charlottesville's Fire Chief. "I think I bring 30 plus years of local government experience dealing with municipal budgets," Taliaferro said.

Norris currently serves as executive director of PACHEM. "I think we bring some unique perspectives," Norris said. "We have a lot of common interests and goals for our term on council."

Taliafero and Norris will face Republican Rob Schilling, who is expected to officially announce his run for City Council on Sunday.

The election for City Council will be held on Tuesday, May 2nd.
