Albemarle County Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in the 1600 block of Townwood Court.

A police spokeswoman says just after noon on Wednesday, police got an emergency call about a home invasion and shooting.

Police found one adult male dead inside the home.

Officials have not yet commented on a motive.

"Right now it's, of course, an ongoing investigation," Albemarle Co. Public Information Officer Carter Johnson said. "It's still very active at this point. We do have two people who've been detained and we're continuing to follow up on leads, but at this point we have no reason to believe there are any concern for the community as far as safety goes."

The two men detained by police had been inside the home.
