There are now two more candidates vying for spots on the Charlottesville School Board.

Monday Leah Puryear and Juandiego Wade announced their bid for seats on the board. Puryear is the director of the Upward Bound Program at the University of Virginia, and Wade works as a transportation planner for Albemarle County. Both say they want to make Charlottesville schools the best they can be.

"The Charlottesville school system is like a flower that has not been able to flourish and show the community it's true and awesome potential over the last few years. I know that this is the right time and I'm the right person to help implement this change," said Wade.

"My vision is to listen and be a conduit for change and to bridge the gap. Not only the achievement gap, but the gap between students, parents, teachers and the community," said Puryear.

School board elections are scheduled for May 2.
