A University of Virginia men's lacrosse player accused of punching a Charlottesville Police officer is headed to jail.
Carl Walrath, 21, pleaded guilty on Friday to misdemeanor assault. He was originally charged with felony assault on a law enforcement officer, following a fight on the UVa. Corner back in November.
Police say a large group of people were involved in the fight, and when officers tried to arrest Walrath, he punched one officer in the face and ran away.
Walrath will serve 10 days in jail.
