The University Post Offfice has been in the same building for 40 years--but Friday, it's shutting it's doors for the last time because of an expired lease.

"We know it's going to be a transition, but it's one of those things that we just couldn't help," said Lois Miller of the United States Postal Service.

The Post office lost it's lease and will temporarily merge it's branch with the one on the downtown mall.

"We do use the express mail for work related documents so it is a convenient location and the parking is very easy to get to," said customer Robert Decker.

Several people are concerned about the lack of parking at the mall location.

"We will validate parking from the parking deck for the customer," said Miller.

Others are just going to miss the friendly faces.

"This is a community post office and it's very friendly and the employees are very nice and I've grown a custom to going to this post office every day or every other day so it's quite a change to have to go downtown," said customer Agnes Cross-White.

If the drive is too much there are several alternatives.

"They also have the option that they could get their mail on the route if they didn't want to go to that location. Customers can also use, carrier pick-up, so there's lots of options," said Miller.
