The search is on for the person accused of raping a woman in Charlottesville early Wednesday morning.
City officials say on Wednesday a 31-year-old woman was walking near Dice street when she says a man hit and raped her.
Authorities say the man said he knew who she was and called out a name, but the woman says she didn't know her alleged attacker, and he called out the wrong name.
The man told the woman he had a gun but she never saw it. The victim ran into the Salvation Army, and was then taken to the University of Virginia Hospital.
Police are searching for her alleged attacker. The victim says he is a black man, 6' 2", about 250 pounds. The man was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, stocking cap with holes cut out, dark pants, and shoes at the time.
If you have any information about this alleged rape police are asking you to call Crime Stoppers at (434) 977-4000.
