Today a local 15-year-old celebrated her birthday with a blood drive. Mariam Curry was born with a blood disorder that forces her to have blood transfusions every three weeks.
Every year for her birthday the Red Cross throws her a blood drive party. Curry said she was so excited that so many people came to donate because it's a day to celebrate and give the gift of life.
"It's just a really cool thing that me and my family do. We invite all of our friends and it's just a really huge wonderful party," said Curry.
About 175 people donated blood during the celebration.
