Stephanie's Heroes: Aquanett

Feb. 10, 2014

Wigs, drums and lots of guitars. This is Aquanett, a ‘80s hair-metal band that is gearing up for an upcoming show at the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville to benefit a charity in the city.

“$2 from every pre-sale ticket goes to the Red Shoe C'ville,” says Chuck Crenshaw. “And if we sell out the show, we're going to donate $1,500.”

Red Shoe C’ville President Brooke Jenkins says all the money raised will go to a good cause. The organization works closely with the Ronald McDonald House, which houses families of young patients receiving medicals treatment at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

The house just underwent lots of renovations and they’re preparing to move the guests back in.

“If we were able to sell out the Jefferson...we would be able to throw the best welcoming home party,” says Brooke. “And what better place to come home to than a house full of goodies and warmth and opportunity.”

The band will be rocking out to all the favorites during this fundraiser, groups like Bon Jovi, Poison, the Scorpions and Ozzy Ozbourne.

“We like to have a lot of fun,” says Chris Konizer. “So it seemed like a great fit for us to partner up with them, throw a big party and give back to the community.”

Not only is the band raising money, they’re also giving the families and patients of Ronald McDonald House a chance to come out and unwind.

“When families need something to uplift them, and when you get to hear things about benefits and roll and and roll that's really just makes you feel well when maybe you're not well.”

The concert will be at 8:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville on Saturday, Feb. 15. Click on the link on the side to learn more, as well as purchase tickets.
