Albemarle Co. Police Report Extra Costs of Presidential Visit

Feb. 20, 2014

Albemarle County Police say the total cost for extra hours of police work for President Obama's visit was $9,728.23.

Officials say that does not include the time worked during regular hours, and is just a tally of the extra costs associated with the presidential visit to Monticello.

On Monday, Feb. 10, Pres. Obama and French President Francois Hollande toured the historic home of President Thomas Jefferson.

In all, 63 sworn officers and six auxiliary police officers worked with the president’s security detail to make sure the two leaders had a safe visit to and from the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport.
