The Charlottesville man suspected in the shooting death of a teen yesterday is no longer in police custody.
The Commonwealth’s attorney says he hasn't decided whether to charge the man suspected in yesterday's deadly shooting and with no charges filed, the suspect was free to go.
An autopsy was performed on 18 year-old Gerald Washington in Richmond today.
Police say he was shot multiple times on 6th St. SW yesterday morning. Eight shell casings were found at the scene.
Police say there was an argument and the shooting may have been in self-defense. Now there's a question whether to charge the shooter at all.
The Commonwealth’s attorney met with investigators this afternoon and police say he is waiting for additional forensic results before deciding if and what charges the suspect should face.
The suspect in this shooting made the call to 911 and turned himself into police at the scene.
