The public got a chance to weigh in on Charlottesville's budget for next year, but not a lot of people took advantage of it.
City Councilors met in small groups with community members to discuss the issues that ranged from sidewalks to cost of living. Many were concerned with assessments going-up as well as property tax rate.
"We are going to lower the tax rate and secondly I think we're look at a program that would target tax relief to lower and moderate income homeowners," said Mayor David Brown.
Brown says the city is planning to lower the tax rate by two to five cents.
