Charlottesville Police are looking for a man involved in a shooting. They say around 3:30 a.m. Sunday a woman was shot in the arm during a domestic argument. It happened in the 1000 block of Altavista Avenue.
Police were initially dispatched to a domestic dispute, but they say when they arrived they found the 26-year-old victim at a neighbor's home with a gun shot wound. Police say the shooter had fled by the time they arrived, they still have not found him.
Sunday night reporters spoke with a neighbor who did not want to be identified, but who heard the entire incident.
"I heard glass breaking," said the neighbor. "And then all of a sudden I heard her screaming and hollering and I heard stuff being thrown. [The victim] was like, 'Stop it. Don't do it. Leave me alone.' Then I heard a pop... he shot her."
Police are asking for help. The man they are looking for is Troy Montel Shelton. They believe he is the person who fired the gun. Anyone with information is urged to call crime stoppers at 434-977-4000.
The victim is recovering and her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
