Thousands of people are in town for the 12th annual Virginia Festival of the Book, which brings CSPAN2's Book TV Bus to Charlottesville. The bus is a mobile studio that travels across the country to various book festivals.

CSPAN2 uses the inside of a 45-ft bus to conduct interviews and run the show. The control room, which is run by two people, operates in the back of the bus.

"This is a mobile television studio. We can take it all over the country. We've had dozens of authors come on the bus, in fact last night we interviewed [a] local author," said Anne Haller. "Local authors are our main focus, but here at the [Virginia Festival of the Book] we're going to interview 14 different authors who are attending."

The bus launched in September 2005 and goes to festivals, local libraries, and bookstores.

The footage of the Virginia Festival of the Book will air Saturday, April 1 from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on CSPAN2.
