Today 130 firefighters from across the Charlottesville area took part in their annual regional certification classes in Albemarle County.
Classes ranged form instructor training to bus extrication. Firefighters were able to participate in a mock rescue of a school bus and motor vehicle collisions.
More than 25 different departments took part in the two day event.
Instructors say this is some of the best training for firefighters.
“This weekend's event is to allow our emergency responders to prepare for an emergency event in a controlled environment,” said Scott Lambert of Albemarle County Fire Department. “[This training allows them to] learn some things that will help them deal with new technology and new federal mandates.”
The event is co-sponsored by the Albemarle County Fire Department and the Virginia Department of Fire Programs.
