Rivanna Water and Sewer authorities discussed the possible drought during a meeting Monday. They say the areas stream levels have dropped significantly over the past month.
Right now the reservoirs are full, but they say if the drought continues they might call for mandatory water conservation measures.
"That's enough of an issue that we think it's a good idea for people to voluntarily conserve water, particularly as people are doing their spring planting," said Tom Frederick, Executive Director of the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority.
Officials say the season's abnormally dry conditions have forced them to look seriously into possible drought solutions.
