The University of Virginia Police Department is investigating a reported robbery near Humphreys House, a first-year student dormitory, Saturday morning.
The incident happened around 5:40 a.m.
The alleged victim, a UVa student, was reportedly struck in the head by an unknown suspect.
The suspect then took money from the student's pocket before running away.
When Virginia Long, a first year student, found out about the alleged attack she brought it up to her friends.
"One of them said that in big cities it happens a lot so they didn't think it was a big deal but it's kind of scary," said Long.
The McCormick Road Residence Hall Area houses over 1300 students in 10 buildings.
Some students are not at all concerned after Saturday's incident, others are a little uneasy.
"I've walked back plenty of times in the middle of the night and I usually don't at all feel scared about walking back and don't have a second thought about it. It's just kind of a shock," said Mager Koronhas, a first-year UVa student.
The student was taken to the UVa Medical Center with minor injuries.
The suspect is only described as wearing a grey hoodie.
