Two University of Virginia athletes are facing charges in connection with a fraternity brawl earlier this month.

Charlottesville police arrested 19-year-old football player Michael Brown and 18-year-old soccer player Michael Giallombardo. Both are facing breaking and entering charges stemming from an incident on March 3, 2006 at a UVa fraternity house. The students were in court Tuesday and were released on a $2,500 bond.

University of Virginia Executive Associate Director of Athletics Jon Oliver issued this statement: "We're aware of the charges. We're going to meet with both student-athletes and the head coaches from both programs to determine what happens to the student-athletes pending the outcome of the criminal process. Until we do that, we haven't taken any action with the student-athletes."

Charlottesville police chief Tim Longo said investigators believe there are others involved in this incident and hope those who witnessed the brawl will come forward. He said, "If [anyone has] information about this case--if [they] were there in any fashion, and can help us sort this situation out, we're hoping that people will be forthwright and candid and come forth to investigators."

If you have information, call police at 434-970-3278.
