With a new tasting room on tap, it's a good time to be at Starr Hill Brewery.
And the brewers have something else to celebrate this weekend, too.
For six months, the new room has been under construction in Crozet. It features a stage for live music and a hand-crafted bar, all within eyesight of the beer production operation.
"Music has always been in the DNA of our brand and always will be," Starr Hill founder Mark Thompson said.
The celebration of the room's completion will begin Friday, but there's more to celebrate. One of the brewery's limited-release series of beer called Whiter Shade of Pale just won a gold medal at the World Beer Cup in Denver.
The World Beer Cup featured nearly 5,000 entries from 1,400 breweries in 58 countries.
"We're pretty pumped this week," said Brian McNelis, Starr Hill's vice president of brewery operations. "Ggrand opening of our brand new tasting room for all our customers to come be with Starr Hill and win a gold medal. That's a lot of wind in our sails in one week."
The celebration runs between Friday and Sunday and will feature live music, food trucks and 16 Starr Hill beers on tap.
