If you are interested in riding across the James River, then hitch a ride on the Hatton Ferry, now open for the season.
The ferry has been around for over two hundred years and served as a way carry people across the James River.
Today it is still up and running thanks to the Albemarle County Historical Society.
The captain says it's a great way to get out and see the James River as well as cross over to Buckingham County.
“The ferry goes from Albemarle to Buckingham county and back,” says Craig McPherson. “We do pick up people on the other side of the road when they honk or blow their horns, or blink their lights, I'll go get them.”
The ferry runs from 9AM to 5PM on Saturday and from Noon to 5PM on Sundays.
