The restaurant, Henry’s on the downtown mall, was turned into a dessert tasting benefit for Ryan and Miriam Edwards.
The brother and sister ice skating duo are nationally ranked in the top ten of junior ice skaters and are looking to compete in the 2007 Junior National Competition. They are trying to raise money to help with their expenses that are around $30,000.
Henry and Debbie Hackett, owners of Henry's, heard about the ice skaters and decided they wanted to help, so they opened their restaurant for Sunday's fundraiser.
"They're just wonderful children. [Their Mom] home-schools them and they're just very appreciative, and very well-mannered children," said Debbie Hackett of Henry's.
The dessert tasting raised nearly $1,000 to help to the Edwards toward their national competition.
If you'd like to help the Ryan and Miriam Edwards, call the New England Amateur Skating Foundation at, 401-861-9266 to make a tax-deductible donation.
