Albemarle County Public Schools schools recognized the work of the system's teachers and other employees on Thursday.

Albemarle County schools held its annual We Notice celebration at the county office building in Charlottesville.

Employees, parents, community members, and spouses could nominate those whom they felt demonstrated uncommon dedication or service in response to a request or community need.

A parent nominated Hollymead Elementary School principal Nancy Teel for listening to her concerns about her child and putting her child in a classroom that fit her needs.

"We're just really grateful, all of us at Hollymead, for the fact that parents, students, community members, our colleagues, would take the time to nominate, to sit down and write what they appreciate about what we do and it just makes us feel really good that someone notices what we do," said Teel, standing with other Hollymead staff who received recognition on Thursday.

The celebration included a reception, awards, and taking pictures on the steps of the county office building.
