Charlottesville's Police Chief is presenting plans to the City Council Monday night for a citizens advisory panel.
Chief Longo's recommendation calls for a nine member group. Under his plan, the panel will help police look at various aspects of community relations and serve as a pipeline for information.
It will also help relay information back to the community.
"It really is an opportunity I think to bring a group of people to the table to help a more positive long term sustainable relationship with the community and the neighborhoods that we serve," said Longo.
Under Longo's proposal, the panel will not be involved in investigations or police discipline. The chief says the department already takes care of those aspects itself.
