A group of UVA students and alumni are reaching out to earthquake victims in China.
The concert series began Friday afternoon near the free speech monument on the Downtown Mall and lasts until midnight.
Organizers say they hope the China Earthquake Relief Concert Series will help raise money for victims of the earthquake that killed thousands of people in China back in May.
So far, the concert series has raised nearly $1,000 after just one day of music.
Jie Li helped organize the concert series, "From our side, we want to help people who are still struggling for their lives. We want to aide them in their reconstruction efforts."
The concert series will be held every weekend in August.
