Over 1,400 runners gathered at the University of Virginia’s Research Park for the 4th annual 4 the Wounded 5k.
It was all to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project, which helps out soldiers wounded in combat.
Money is raised through donations as well as sponsors, all for a good cause.
“Everyday folks can relate in some form or fashion to what's been going on in the wars that we've had overseas,” says Deborah Vanerrsel, race director. “Wounded Warriors has done an amazing job trying to help out with the folks coming home that have been wounded or otherwise injured.”
This year they met their goal and raised over $115,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project.
The Charlottesville Newsplex was also a proud sponsor of the event.
