Deputies have arrested a woman in connection to a weekend shooting in Buckingham County.
On Saturday, June 21, at 8:16 a.m., deputies from the Buckingham Co. Sheriff’s Office responded to the 700 block of Sleepy Hollow Road for the report of a woman attempting to break into a home with a gun.
While the deputies were still en route to the scene, the call was upgraded to shots fired.
Upon arrival, a deputy encountered a woman matching the suspect’s description walking from the rear of the home. Officials say that suspect, 34-year-old Tiffany Nicole Ewell Newsome, was taken into custody without incident.
Newsome allegedly fired two rounds from a shotgun through the rear door of the home in an attempt to get inside. The rounds went through walls, causing “substantial” property damage.
The sheriff’s office says Newsome’s vehicle was found in the driveway with the license plates covered by tape, and that a shotgun was seen inside the vehicle.
Newsome is charged with three counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of maliciously shooting into a dwelling, 2 counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, attempted breaking and entering, destruction of property, reckless handling of a firearm and brandishing a firearm,
Newsome is being held without bond at the Piedmont Regional Jail.
