Charlottesville Police say they're investigating an early-morning shooting on Prospect Avenue as a possible homicide.

Police say the incident happened shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday morning in the 700 block of Prospect Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, they found 27-year-old Otis Edward Scott had been shot.

Scott was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center by friends and later died from his injuries.

Friends who spoke off camera say Scott attended a birthday party on Saturday afternoon with family and friends.
