The Greene County Library may have to cut back its hours if county leaders don't give them enough money this year.

For the sixth straight year county board members have denied giving them a money increase. Library officials say they need the extra $30,000 to operate fully. Without the money they'll have to reduce their hours to 20 a week.

"I think that the public really wants this library to be open. It's a new library, it was built with a lot of public support, and I think it will be very sad if we lose our funding and have to close our doors," said Branch Manager Ginny Reese.

Library officials plan to present the board with a petition for more money at the budget meeting next Tuesday.
