A former Albemarle County teacher is facing additional charges of online solicitation of a minor.
The Waynesboro Police Department arrested and charged 66-year-old John Daniel Patterson Jr. with using a communications system for the purposes of soliciting a minor for sexual acts and possession of child pornography.
Patterson was also arrested in April by the Augusta County deputies after an investigator posing as a young boy said Patterson contacted him online and arranged a meeting.
Officers arrested Patterson at his home Wednesday, July 10. He is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
Patterson was a longtime teacher at Western Albemarle High School. He taught social studies from 1972 until 2000.
