Saturday kicks off historic garden week in Virginia and many local homeowners are opening their doors.
The Burton's are opening up their home for the first time. Trish Burton has spent the last six years on her garden, which started as a plot of grass. In the Spring she spends several hours a day--and says it takes a lot of time, but brings her many pleasures.
"Probably the melding of colors--I like to come out here in the morning because it's very peaceful, very happy," said Burton.
"Everyone comes away with an idea. They are inspired. It's a thing of beauty. It's something that's uplifting--great way to spend the day," said Holly Casey co-chair VA Historic Garden Tour.
This home is part of five on tour Sunday and Monday. Parking and tickets are at Foxfield Race Course. There are also several other places giving tours, such as UVA.
