Monticello High School students saw it at another school a couple of years ago and have wanted it ever since.
Now they've raised enough money to have their mascot painted across the gymnasium wall. The 70 foot-long mural cost $8,000. It was painted by a father and son team who has painted more than 15,000 full-scale mascots to boost school spirit.
“We try to make a big impact on your audience when you walk in,” said mural painter Stacy Ridgeway.
“I was like 'Wow. This is spectacular'. Hopefully it will be a trendsetter,” said Monticello high school student Cameron Jones.
The mural took 20 gallons of paint and two and a half days to complete.
