OpenSpace Closing Its Doors

July 23, 2014

A unique work space for many entrepreneurs around Charlottesville is closing its doors.

OpenSpace has been open since 2009, and has provided a place for people who would normally do their work at home with a quiet environment.

The founder of OpenSpace sent a message out to clients this week explaining that he regrets to close , but it hasn't been a very profitable business.

A staff member explained that there isn't another place like this in Charlottesville.

“People who would normally maybe have to go to a coffee shop, find somewhere like that, they can use us because it's professional, it's a good work environment,” Madeline Delia, concierge at OpenSpace. “I don't know of another space like us in Charlottesville. I think our customers might be at a loss a little bit on where to go.”

The owner hopes someone in the community can pick up where he left off.

Until then, current members will be able to use the space for free until the doors close on August 29.
