An Albemarle County man will spend 17 years behind bars for killing a teenager at the Trophy Chase apartments last year.

The judge sentenced Christopher Greene to 14 years for felony homicide and three additional years for a firearms charge. Greene shot into a car and accidentally killed Ashley Tony. In the court today, he looked at Tony's grieving mother and said he was truly sorry.

“This is a tragedy all a round. This is a tragedy for the Tony family as well as for the Green family. The fact of the matter is Christopher Greene chose to be where he was and he chose to have the gun and choose to use it,” said Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Camblos.

Greene has no prior history of violence against others.
