The countdown is finally over and although the Cavaliers may have come up short on the field against UCLA, outside the stadium you could tell people were happy to be back in tailgating season.
Hoos fans took over the parking lots around Scott Stadium as they fired up the grills and pulled out all the finger food you could imagine.
Even inside the UVa aquatics center, the fan zone was filled with fun things to do for hoos fans young and old including face painting, various games and even some picture time with Cav Man.
Upon kickoff, the UVa marching band kept fans ready before entering the stadium as they played Cavalier fight songs.
The tailgate brought out several alums, including one of CBS's own, national news correspondent Wyatt Andrews.
"I'm choosing to be optimistic, forget all the controversy about Mike London, he is recruiting a lot of talent," Andrews said. "Every year there is a surprise team, hopefully this is the year, we are the surprise team."
Many Hoos fans are still encouraged by the team's efforts Saturday despite the loss, as they looked much improved compared to last year, so only time will tell how the rest of the season goes.
