Local citizens got a chance to take a shot at crime today.
The Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club played host to a fundraiser for the Jefferson Area Crimestoppers.
There were those who knew their way around a rifle as well as beginners who have never held a gun before all taking a shot at clay and skeet targets for a good cause.
“Everybody stands to benefit from reducing and preventing crime, after all you're the guy whose house is likely to be burglarized not the police officer,” said Crimestoppers treasurer Fred Payne.
Crimestoppers is a private community group that offers rewards for information leading to the capture of criminals. If you want to donate to Crimestoppers call Fred Payne at 434-977-4507.
