Now that graduation time is here. It's time for graduates to start thinking about the real world. But lucky for them the job market is doing well right now.

Stephen Hull, a biology major, is one hundreds of UVA grads prepping for the big day. But he says heading into the real world is, "mildly scary, yea, quite horrifying."

But job experts say new graduates shouldn't fret too much over landing a job.

"The job market is really good for people that have skills, experience and education," said Justine Jackson, District Manager of Kelly Services.

In fact, surveys show two-thirds of employers plan to hire new grads and starting salaries are higher. Graduates with business, engineering, computer and healthcare degrees are in demand.

"I know I'll have a job somewhere because everybody needs paramedics," said Hull.

Amy Cole, an anthropology major, says the booming job market is reassuring but she's not quite ready to get started.

"I just want something that's going to pay the rent for a year and then I'm going to decide what to do from there," said Cole.

That may not be such a bad idea. Job recruiter Justine Jackson says landing a job in your field could take six months or longer. But finding one that fits your career goals can make all of those exams and essays feel worth it.

"They should go into the areas that they're really desiring to get into and it may take some time to get into the right company, but it's worth it with perseverance," said Jackson.

UVa's graduation ceremony is set for this Sunday.
