High School Lacrosse Player Killed In Accident

There is new information on a fatal accident that happened along the 1000 block of Thomas Jefferson Parkway Friday night.

Albemarle County Police have revealed that the driver killed in the accident it 17-year-old Nolan Jenkins.

Jenkins is a star on the Albemarle High School lacrosse team who just won the Commonwealth District's Championship on Thursday.

Jenkins is #17 for the Albemarle High School Patriots.

Police say he was killed in an car accident when he lost control of his sports utility vehicle along Route 53/Thomas Jefferson Parkway.
Police report that alcohol played a factor.

Charlottesville's Newsplex also found out new information from friends that there was a underage drinking party on Friday night. Friends told us that several kids from Albemarle High School was there.

"[We were informed that] there was an underage party taking place nearby," said Sergeant Pam Greenwood of the Albemarle County Police Department. "We responded to the party, found 19 juveniles there. 11 out of the 19 had consumed alcohol, which we did make 11 arrests and released all those juveniles to their parents."

Police are hearing allegations that Nolan Jenkins was at the party. They are continuing to investigate. There is no word from police on where the alcohol from the party came from since there was no one 21 years or older attending.
