It was just the start the cavaliers were looking for, as they beat Florida State 6-2, and for the cavalier faithful who made the trek to Jacksonville, they hope this beginning will just get better.
"I am a UVA alumni. I was a college football player but I came out to support the baseball team. I am an athletic supporter."
that from Tommie Marsh who's son is a left fielder for the baseball team. Marsh adds,
"I came down from Atlanta to watch the 'Hoos play FSU and watch my son play in right field."
They came from far and wide, but all came to see the same result.
UVa baseball fans and alumni lined up early this morning in Jacksonville, picking up tickets to watch the first round game against the Florida State Seminoles. Tommie Marsh drove down from Atlanta excited to see his son Brandon play. He knows the third seeded 'Hoos have a tough road ahead but he has high expectations.
"We're going to have do battle the rest of the tournament to end up where we want to be on Saturday and Sunday."
Tom Calhoun and Jim Francis found this venue especially desirable. They both live in Jacksonville and are excited to finally see their alma mater play.
"This is where the ACC tournament is so we came out to cheer on the WAHOOs."
But for these two alum, almost as important as the game is knowing where to spread Cavalier cheer. "I don't remember when to sing the song. I guess we will figure it out. I've never been to a live baseball game"
