A local man is facing multiple charges after police find a stash of drugs in his car.
Charlottesville police arrested Charlie Wayne Shifflett over the weekend during a traffic stop. The man was taken in originally for DUI but when they searched his car, authorities found about $1,900 dollars in cash and about $4,000 worth of drugs - including marijuana and cocaine.
Police believe the bust was a pretty significant one.
”This was an amount that would be sufficient, in my opinion, to indicate an intent to distribute. This wasn't personal use marijuana and cocaine. This was packaged in such a way to evidence, again in my opinion, an intent to distribute it, perhaps on the streets of this city," said Charlottesville police chief, Tim Longo.
Shifflett's charges include intent to distribute as well as possession.
